Phanan Choeng Worawihan Temple is an ancient temple built before the establishment of Ayutthaya. It is not clear who built it, but it is mentioned in Northern Chronicles that it was built by King Sai Nam Phung. The temple houses a large Buddha image built in 1324, 26 years before the founding of Ayutthaya.
